Tech Center's Linda Lavender meets with governor about cyber security
Linda Lavender, Advanced Technology Center network administration and cyber security instructor, met with Governor Terry McAuliffe, during a recently held Virginia Department of Education workshop at the center, on creating a new cyber security fundamentals course for high school students. The governor shared his vision and initiatives for improving cyber education and employment opportunities for individuals with cyber skills.
John Nelson, Cisco network engineering instructor, along with Advanced Technology Center's computer network administration and cyber security instructor Linda Lavender, and James Spruill, computer systems technology instructor, attended the Virginia Cyber Convention and Expo held recently at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Spruill met Kevin Mitnick, sometimes known as “the World’s Most Famous Hacker” and keynote speaker, who provided a presentation on techniques cyber criminals use to gain access to personal data.
