EVENT REVIEW: IP EXPO Manchester Heralds “Best Ever” Year

Designed to show businesses how the latest IT innovations can drive their firm forward, the event welcomed more than 6,000 visitors to Manchester Central

The organisers behind Manchester’s IPEXPO have heralded a record year, as it “further cemented its place as a must attend IT event”.

The expo experienced a 30 per cent growth in attendance on the year before, reflecting a booming business and technology development in the North.

Running between April 26 and 27, more than 6,000 visitors across the two days at Manchester Central were treated to 104 unique seminar sessions and over 100 exhibitors.

Designed to guide those looking to find out how the latest IT innovations can drive their business forward, IP EXPO Manchester 2017 provided delegates with seminar content across six high-growth technology sectors all under one roof.

Bradley Maule-ffinch, director of strategy for IP EXPO Manchester, said: “Manchester has one of the most vibrant technology scenes in the UK.

“We had a phenomenal turn out at the event from the local technology and business community, and our speakers and exhibitors did an incredible job as always to provide attendees with thought-provoking, insightful and educational information throughout the two days.

"We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for IP EXPO Manchester 2018.”

Day one of the free-to-attend event opened with a captivating keynote from Kevin Mitnick, the world’s most famous hacker who was once at the top of the FBI’s Most Wanted list.

He spoke in front a packed audience, educating them on the realities of the cyber security landscape.

Other high-profile seminars included an inspiring opening keynote speech on day two from Mike Hobday of IBM Watson on the future and AI; James Akrigg of Microsoft, on today’s challenging business environments; Matt McNeill of Google, on how Google are building for the future; and a panel discussion on the future of IoT with Michael Hobbs of Accenture Digital, Ken Munroe of Pen Test Partners LLP, Tomasz Mloduchowski of Zedaro and Michael Karliner, the former CTO of Shazam now at RedSift.

IP EXPO Manchester returns to Manchester Central next year on 25th to 26th April 2018.
