Think you know cyber security? Think again – world’s most famous hacker comes to IP EXPO Manchester

Kevin Mitnick to headline leading Manchester technology conference

IP EXPO Manchester, part of Europe's number one enterprise IT event series, today unveiled the world’s most famous hacker, Kevin Mitnick, as this year’s keynote speaker.

Once one of the FBI's Most Wanted because just for the challenge he hacked into 40 major corporations and the NSA, Mitnick is now a trusted security consultant to the Fortune 500 and governments worldwide. He’ll be bringing his unique skill set to educate attendees at IP EXPO Manchester on the biggest challenge to cyber security – people.

Mitnick will be delving into the art of deception, regaling attendees with how hacker’s use social engineering tactics to use people’s tendency to trust. He’ll be using live hacking demonstrations to show how people are the weakest security link in any organisation and how they can be manipulated or influenced into unknowingly helping hackers break into their organisation’s computers. Attendees will learn how easily they can be an unsuspecting victim who can be manipulated into handing over the keys to the kingdom, if they haven’t done so already.

“Cyber security concerns are at an all-time high for many businesses. We’ve seen this reflected across our IP EXPO Event Series and we always have huge demand from attendees for information, expertise and advice on the changing cyber threat landscape. Everyone is trying to find that silver bullet but hackers are often one step ahead, making it increasingly difficult for organisations to keep them out,” comments Bradley Maule-ffinch, EMEA Portfolio Director for the IP EXPO Event Series.

He continues, “Our mission is to provide our attendees with rare access to the industry leaders and world class experts that are creating and shaping technologies. At this year’s IP EXPO Manchester we’ll be providing attendees with the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s finest cyber security experts, Kevin Mitnick, which is something not to be missed for anyone who is worried about their cyber security.”

Now in its third successful year, IP EXPO Manchester will take place on 26-27 April 2017 at the Manchester Central, Manchester. The technology event provides local organisations with access to an unprecedented group of influential speakers and brands across central themes of Cloud, Cyber Security, Networks and Infrastructure, DevOps, Open Source and a brand new topic combining AI, Analytics and IoT.
